What Is a Dental Crown?
A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of your tooth. A crown makes your tooth strong and gives it the shape of a natural tooth. Also a crown is known as a “cap”.
Dental crowns are very important as they save the tooth!
Crowns can serve both functional and aesthetic purposes.
-
A crown repairs a damaged tooth - Our dentists in Norwalk, CT use this dental installation to ensure that your tooth is functional, comfortable, and aesthetically appealing.
-
A crown can be a permanent, or temporary fix - Depending on your age, tooth condition, and dental care needs, your dentist will determine which option is best for you.
Advantage of All-Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain and tooth enamel are both semi-translucent. They both can reflect some light and absorb some light, and they both have a pearly glow.
When you have a porcelain crown the tooth acquires strong white surfaces all around it. This new surfaces replace the damaged old enamel surfaces. The crown looks so natural that no one will notice that it's not your own tooth. The main advantage of this type of a dental crown is that it has no dark line at the edge.

Same Day Dental Crowns using CERAC Technology
The process for receiving a same-day crown in Advanced Dental Center is very similar to the process for receiving a traditional dental crown but it is crafted in our dental office in Norwalk, CT right after our dentists take the impression of your tooth. The method for taking an impression of the teeth is different, in that instead of taking a putty mold of it, a dentist takes a digital impression of the tooth. This is accomplished by dusting the tooth with a reflective powder and scanning it with a handheld wand. Using this method, our dentists get an accurate 3D model of your tooth which we use to construct the same-day crown.
It is done by a CEREC® machine that uses the 3D image of your tooth to carve a piece of ceramic material into the exact shape of your tooth. The color of the crown is closely matched to your surrounding teeth and is finished by staining and glazing it to ensure a great aesthetic and functional fit.
Advanced Dental Center is one of the few dental offices that offer single-visit crowns. These pure ceramic or porcelain crowns are made the same day as your visit and are precisely created by a computer while you wait!
Our cosmetic dentists create beautiful life-like restorations of your tooth, without needing temporary crowns or multiple visits.
